# Why don't I have the option to "fill in missing rows"?

In order to [fill in missing rows](https://community.omni.co/t/whats-the-difference-between-dimension-fill-and-value-fill/83) on a dimension, Omni has to know the full set of values that the dimension can take.

For now, this means the dimension must be either a:

- [Group](https://docs.omni.co/docs/querying-and-sql/custom-fields/#binning-grouping-bucketing) (using Omni’s `Group` functionality)  

- Known list (e.g. day of week name)

- Date, bounded by filters (e.g. filtering for all dates in the year 2024 will fill in all days for 2024)
